I read to escape. I read to learn. I read to feel. I read to travel. I read to see the world through a stranger’s eyes. One great book hits all these points. When I was young and awkward, not knowing where I fit in, I escaped to worlds outside our small brick home. I read everything from encyclopedias, Readers Digests, and the “Boxcar Children”, about unwanted kids who ran away and lived in an abandoned Boxcar. Reading stimulated me and made me excited to leave and travel to at least some of the places that I had first learned about through a story. Most of my travel itineraries were formed from the books I had read. I visited India fourteen times. Sicily twice. Italy, France, England, Germany, and Japan.
